Beatles opløstes for 50 år siden, og de var uden diskussion den helt store eksportsucces for havnebyen Liverpool. Men langt fra den eneste. Det lille nørdede retroplademærke Ace dokumenterer på en ny plade, at Liverpool blandt andet bød på en lang række kvindelige kunstnere. Vi kender nok Cilla Black, der var Lennon/McCartneys protege, og måske også Beryl Marsden (på billedet ovenfor med George Harrison), men der var – som oversigten nedenfor viser – mange andre, der ikke må gå i g(l)emmebogen.
