I DRs tilsyneladende ustoppelige og uendelige række af genudsendelser er man i gang med den udmærkede krimiserie om politiinspektør George Gently, der sammen med sin umage kollega, den unge Bachus, forsøger at rydde op i mordsager i Nordøst-England. Jeg har allerede set serien et par gange, men i mangel af bedre, kan den sagtens tåle en tur mere, da den har alt, hvad en britisk krimiserie kan forventes at have: miljøskildring, gode skuespilpræstationer hele vejen rundt, opfindsomme, intrikate plot og – ofte et interessant lydspor.
Det sidste gælder ikke mindst aftenens episode. Vi er nået til femte sæson og første episode, der meget oplysende bærer titlen Gently Northern Soul. Jeg har omtalt afsnittet før og gør det gerne igen. Et par mord i miljøet omkring et natdiskotek, hvor de unge fra nær og fjern dyrker northern soul. Den genre, der i serien forklares som den soul, de fleste ikke lytter til. Altså ikke de allermest spillede soulsange eller de allerstørste, bedst kendte kunstnere. En kult- og nørdgenre for særlige feinschmeckere.
Som soundtracklisten nedenfor afslører, så sneg der sig dog nogle gode, kendte navne ind i afsnittet. Men under alle omstændigheder musik, der ikke gjorde aftenen spildt.
